Los Angeles and Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Charities work closely with plaintiff bar associations locally, regionally, statewide, and even across the country.

LATLC has been the endorsed charity of CAALA since we began. Many of LATLC’s officers and board members are also part of CAALA’s leadership – including President Minh Nguyen, who was LATLC President in 2014. Ten other LATLC presidents, including current president Karina Lallande, are CAALA Board members and the LATLC bylaws were based on CAALA’s bylaws framework.

LATLC partners with CAALA at mixers and at the Women’s Conferences, holding toy drives for “Comfort and Joy” and clothes for those in need.

We also participate in the annual CAALA convention, hosting “service projects” for attendees. Be sure to visit our booth (#502) and sign cards for families receiving their first real home after living on the streets. We are also offering “Welcome Home” baskets for the families that you can sponsor.

The relationship between OCTLC and OCTLA is also close. The first person we contacted when we considered expanding was OCTLA’s executive director, Janet Thornton, who also attended the first planning meeting of OCTLC. There are several OCTLC board members who are past presidents or current board members of OCTLA. We support each other and our charitable endeavors and work hard to put together a calendar of giving that truly helps the community.

Statewide, both LATLC and OCTLC work closely with Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC). OCTLC was a sponsor of the Palm Springs Seminar in May which was a joint CAOC/OCTLA event. LATLC regularly participates in the annual CAOC convention.

Why is this important? Our values are the same. It is no coincidence that our “tagline” is JUSTICE IN THE COURTROOM. SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY. Trial lawyers care. Which brings us to our national partner – American Association for Justice’s (AAJ’s) Trial Lawyers Care, an initiative to encourage, recognize, and organize trial lawyers who contribute to their communities through volunteer and charitable activities that serve the public good.

Members of LATLC attend AAJ’s Trial Lawyers Care committee meetings, and are regularly featured on their website (https://www.justice.org/ways-to-give/volunteer/trial-lawyers-care).

The mission and framework of LATLC and OCTLC are simple: Give back to the community through financial support and volunteer service. We look forward to expanding that “TLC” brand across the state and country in the years ahead, with the goal of eventually having chapters of Trial Lawyers’ Charities in communities nationwide.
