It’s that time again. Pumpkin lattes. Sweater weather. Turkey and stuffing. Football games. #GivingTuesday.
Every year, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is a “national day of giving.” #GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
While giving – of time and support – is the focus of Orange County and Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities throughout the year, it is even more important as we near the holidays.
Orange County events
OCTLC is busy “racing” toward the “giving season,” OCTLC President Michelle West is participating in The Great World Race™, one of the most exciting new events on the international running calendar. Over seven extraordinary days, from November 15–21, 2026, Michelle will run a marathon on each of the seven continents, traveling from Antarctica to North America.
You can still help Michelle along the way by donating to OCTLC and LATLC. All funds raised and sponsorships will support OCTLC or LATLC 100%. Running with a purpose is what we do. You can donate at: https://WORLDRACE26.givesmart.com.
OCTLC is also doing a Trunk or Treat to support KidWorks, whose mission is to inspire purpose in youth, fuel their growth, and catalyze their impact in the community. OCTLC is a sponsor of this family-friendly event. Additionally, OCTLC is supporting Meals on Wheels to assist the older adults in Orange County who struggle with hunger, malnutrition, and isolation by providing grocery shopping and meal preparation. The OCTLC Team will deliver nutritious, heart-healthy meals along with a friendly smile just in time for Thanksgiving.
Finally, OCTLC will once again support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County by sponsoring Operation Holiday Homework where children at the club get to use good grades and good works in exchange for holiday gifts for themselves and their family. OCTLC will help these children shop for gifts and wrap them.
Los Angeles events
Following a very successful Golf Tournament, LATLC is “falling into” our biggest Signature Event, Comfort & Joy, set for December 5. Five hundred low-income families are selected by LAPD’s Newton Division and local community groups. Each family will not only receive groceries and household items, but the children will each be able to select their own toys.
We transform the parking lot at St. Patrick’s Church into a Winter Wonderland, with “snow” falling, music playing, a petting zoo, family activities, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus arrive in a fire truck, escorted by motorcycles and fancy cars. This year we added the Kringle Craft Center with lots of activities for the families before they enter Santa’s Village.
The morning event brings in 2,000 residents, 100 volunteers and lots of media every year. You can give through sponsorships, donate directly toward the toys and groceries (which costs around $50,000 to provide each year) and sign up to volunteer. It is not too late to become “Santa’s Helper” and collect new, unwrapped toys for the event. Sign up for TOYS FOR JOY by contacting Alisha Ross (
