Come celebrate with OCTLA

Justice Day in Sacramento April 27 and the annual Palm Springs Seminar May 1

2020 March

The Orange County Trial Lawyers Association’s new year has officially begun with the Installation of Officers and Directors on January 18 at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach. It was an exciting and well-attended event. Thank you to the sponsors and all that attended in making it a special night. If you are interested in viewing a one-minute highlight video of our Installation program, please view the OCTLA Facebook page or our Instagram page (@octla_org). Please be sure to follow us so you can stay up to date on all things OCTLA. Also, the event photos are showcased on our website at OCTLA.org – look under Events/Photo Gallery.

Soon after our Installation program, we started our MCLE season with the annual What’s New in Tort and Trial seminar. We were so happy to see so many of you at that event. As I write this we are looking forward to our next program on February 27th, “Bias Inside and Outside the Courtroom and the Benefits and Challenges Faced by Female Advocates.” It will prove to be an opportunity for new perspective on the practice of law while earning specialty CLE credit.

We now move towards our March 2020 MCLE program on E-Discovery. Attendance is restricted to Plaintiff Attorney Members and Paralegal Members working for a Plaintiff Firm. Please make sure you are registered very soon since there is limited attendance available and this Plaintiff-only program is filling up very fast.

Justice Day in Sacramento

On April 27-28, 2020, the Consumer Attorneys of California will be holding Justice Day. Justice Day is an annual lobby day where attorneys meet with legislators to promote and advocate for consumer legislation. Every year OCTLA gets recognition for our Pre-Party reception event, and for our member representation. Although our members travel from Southern California to the State’s capital, year after year OCTLA is amongst the top performers in terms of attendance. We hope that our record for outstanding attendance and participation at Justice Day continues this year.

The Justice Day event launches on April 27th with the CAOC Legislative Reception. Immediately after the CAOC reception program, OCTLA hosts our own Justice Day Pre-Party. This year OCTLA will be returning our Pre-Party to the Vallejo’s Restaurant. The event will be filled with Mexican food, being amongst friends, and enjoying some margaritas. This will surely be another fun-filled and exciting night for Plaintiff lawyers and legislators to celebrate alongside OCTLA. For those of you signed up to attend CAOC Justice Day, you will not want to miss out. We hope you can join OCTLA for a great time…and a shot (or two) of tequila!

Annual Palm Springs Seminar, May 1

On May 1, OCTLA and the Consumer Attorneys of Inland Empire (CAOIE) will again jointly be hosting our annual Palm Springs Seminar at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage. The Palm Springs event is a tremendous opportunity to have a great time while also securing continuing legal education. I consider the Palm Springs event to be amongst the most fun education seminars available. Attorneys from all over the state will attend to speak on panels covering all areas of our practice. It is a great opportunity to meet with colleagues and engage in a variety of networking dinners and events that carry us through the weekend. I strongly encourage attendance at the Palm Springs Seminar, as you will not be disappointed. This has really become one of OCTLA’s cornerstone events, and we (alongside our brothers and sisters from CAOIE) expect another very successful weekend in Palm Springs.

We look forward to the busy calendar ahead and hope to see you all at our many celebrations!
