From galas to roasts to pickleball
How you can help us do what we do
Los Angeles and Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Charities make a real difference in our community through volunteer projects and financial assistance.
That does not happen by magic. It takes planning and resources.
Last month we focused on the human resource – our volunteers and how spending a few hours at one of our service projects can make a huge difference in the lives of individuals, whether building a home with Habitat for Humanity or creating vision boards with women in recovery at Clare|Matrix.
Our events are regularly featured in the news, showcasing the positive work of trial lawyers.
But it takes another important resource to make these activities possible – our fundraisers.
On May 30, LATLC celebrates our 20th Anniversary with the HEART OF LA GALA at Candela La Brea. As always there will be dancing, delicious dining (by celebrity Chef Curtis Stone) and lots of surprises. In the last two decades LATLC has provided more than $6 million in goods and services to our community and volunteered for over 15,000 hours. Join us and toast this incredible milestone.
You will be able to see and feel the work we do every day with our partner charities: from jazz music from The Harmony Project to work by special needs artists from Exceptional Children’s Foundation and Tierra del Sol to the winning high school soccer players we sponsored with champion rings they could not afford. Tickets and sponsorships are going fast. Visit Latlc.org for more information.
SAVE THE DATE - this fall, on October 12, LATLC will host the 13th Annual Golf Tournament at the Mulholland Hills Country Club. All renovations have been completed and the course is beautiful!
On June 6, OCTLC will “roast” Brian Chase at the famous Port Theater in Corona Del Mar, Newport Beach. Heavy hitters such as Keith More (King of the Microphone), Keith Bremer (every plaintiff lawyer’s favorite defense attorney), Eric Dubin (King of Comedy) and other A-list lawyers (and former roastees, like Eric Traut) will be there to show off their comedy chops and raise money to assist the OC Community. Every year a “call to action” to raise funds for adaptive trykes is made to the audience, and thousands of dollars are donated for that special cause. You don’t want to miss the fun – and support OCTLC’s projects including Joy Jars, Children’s Hospital Orange County and so many more.
OCTLC’s second fundraiser is still being decided. In the past, the famous Beach luau at Newport Dunes has thrilled audiences with amazing food, dancers and ocean views. OCTLC’s Karaoke and Lip Sync challenge at the beach with professional ’80s band was a real treat. This year will no doubt be another exciting opportunity for the community to get together, celebrate in glorious Orange County and donate to the charity made up of trial lawyers who care. Stay tuned.
While OC works to create another spectacular fundraiser, OCTLC invites the legal community to join and donate by agreeing to become an Honorary Board Member on the octlc.org website. A donation of only $1,000 (or more) will help us do our work (with no paid staff) and will show the community (with your picture, bio and link to your website) that you are a trial lawyer who cares. Now for something new
Every year, LATLC and OCTLC co-host the annual Great Tryke Giveaway where 25-30 children receive tricycles customized for their special needs. In the past year these wonderful adaptive tricycles have nearly doubled in cost from $1,000 to more than $1,800 each. To make sure all the kids will still receive these trykes, we will host a pickleball tournament on August 2 at California Smash in El Segundo. Thirty teams (no more than five players each) will compete for bragging rights – and a cool trophy. Will the winner be an OCTLC or an LATLC team? Let the games begin! To sign up, visit https://pickle26.givesmart.com/.
There are so many ways for you to support our community. Volunteer for OCTLC and LATLC service projects. Support our fundraisers. Together we will show the public that trial lawyers care.
